Philanthropy has always been important to Dr. Oker. During her time at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry, Dr. Oker had the honor of serving as the VOSH President, where she was responsible for planning vision screenings throughout the island of Puerto Rico and mission trips to the Dominican Republic. Since graduation, Dr. Oker has been an active member of OneSight, a local organization dedicated to providing access to eye care for everyone. OneSight has provided Dr. Oker the opportunity to serve in Rwanda, Tanzania and Colombia working both charitable eye clinics and implementing sustainable vision centers. At the sustainable clinics she was responsible for training local optometrists to perform refractions. Read more on the blog about Dr. Oker's more recent trip to Rwanda here!

​In addition to serving international communities, Dr. Oker strives to participate in local vision screening events as much as possible.
